01
Who this notice covers
Dutch Unicorns is an independent online publication operated by Little Brain Boosters B.V. This notice applies when you apply to be featured, nominate a founder, join the launch newsletter, contact us, or visit this website.
02
Founder applications
When you apply, we collect your name, email address, company information, location, company stage, website and profile links, and the story you submit. We use this information to review your application, communicate with you, and decide whether the story is a fit for Dutch Unicorns.
Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in running an editorial publication and responding to voluntary submissions. Applying does not grant us permission to publish your story. If we select your application, we will contact you about the interview, editorial process, and publication permissions.
03
Founder nominations
When you nominate someone, we collect your name and email address, the founder’s name and company, any profile link you provide, and your reason for nominating them. We use this information to assess a possible editorial lead and, where appropriate, contact the nominated founder.
Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in finding relevant founder stories. Please only provide information that is appropriate to share for this purpose. If we contact a nominee, we will tell them how we obtained their details and provide the relevant privacy information.
04
Launch newsletter
When you join the newsletter, we collect your email address and a record of your consent. We use it to send launch updates and future Dutch Unicorns editions. Our legal basis is your consent.
You can withdraw consent at any time by using the unsubscribe option in an email once mailings begin, or by contacting us at the address above. Withdrawing consent does not affect earlier lawful processing.
05
Website and security data
Our server may process basic technical information such as your IP address, browser details, requested page, and request time to deliver the site, prevent abuse, and investigate faults. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in operating a reliable and secure service.
We do not use advertising or analytics cookies. This site loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, which means Google may receive technical connection data, including your IP address, when your browser requests those files.
06
Who processes the data
We use service providers only where needed to operate Dutch Unicorns. Railway hosts the website and database; DreamHost supports domain services; and Google supplies the web fonts. Their processing is governed by the applicable service terms and privacy documentation.
Some providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where required, we rely on contractual or other lawful safeguards offered by those providers. We do not sell your personal data.
07
How long we keep data
- Applications and nominations not selected: up to 12 months after submission.
- Selected and published material: retained as part of our editorial records and archive, unless there is a valid reason to remove it.
- Newsletter records: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them, subject to a minimal suppression record where needed to respect your choice.
- Technical security logs: normally no longer than 30 days, unless an incident requires longer investigation.
08
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you can ask to access, correct, delete, restrict, or receive a copy of your personal data, or object to processing based on legitimate interests. You can withdraw consent where we rely on it.
Email info@littlebrainboosters.com to make a request. We may need to verify your identity. You can also lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority.
